Insurance eases Pre-Existing conditions - Born too soon or too late?

When insurance companies make statements that sound as if they are understanding our frustrations with policies, I really wonder why they are willing to change. I just read in the New York Times (Story Link) that they are willing to change the Pre-Existing conditions for policies, if a few items are addressed by the policy makers in Washington.
They have now come to that conclusion that, by spreading the cost of those with a higher possible medical cost over a larger population, they would be able to make a fair profit and are doing this because they do not wish to compete with a Government Health Care system. If this change had been made 20 years ago, it would have saved me thousands of dollars on insurance. Amazing that just the threat of Government regulations magically allows for reasonable profit doing what they refused to do to save costs for so many years.  I think that I may have been born too soon.
To a different issue; a procedure that would help my Primary Immune Deficiency (will discuss genetics on next post) was not covered by my company. Some companies would cover, but mine did not. I was really looking forward to Medicare, since that procedure, which is very expensive, was covered. Now I find out that there were some changes and that it may not be covered. So, I may have been born too late.
I almost believe that the industry is changing things just to affect me. But, I will stifle those thoughts as my coverage has a strict limit on paranoia and they are probably watching me for the next change.

I certainly believe that is the case with everyone, not just you. The idea of getting insurance is to get help to pay for health care over a period of time for the illnesses that you have. But, they will do everything possible to make sure that you are not covered for the pre-existing illnesses you had and most of the times when you contract a disease while having insurance, you have to struggle so much to get it paid. Their policies are endless and change too often for anyone to really be at peace with health insurance. They will go to the extent of refusing insurance to any old person who could not afford it earlier because they know they cannot make too much money out of it.
